Learners who are attending a mainstream school from Year 1 to Year 11 and who have a clear diagnosis of autism and are exhibiting very challenging behaviour can benefit from this service.
ASST aims to facilitate learning, support social development and behavioural challenges in order to maximise learner’s potential and abilities in the mainstream environment. This team also empowers and upskills both educators and parents/ caregivers to meet the individual educational needs of the learners with autism.
Educators can refer learners to benefit from this service through the HoD (Inclusion). Application also includes a checklist that has to be filled in by the school HoD (Inclusion) to ensure that all available strategies have been exhausted. This is done after an application including parental consent is duly filled.
