Head Lice (Pediculosis capitis) are parasitic insects that live on the human head. They are not known to spread disease and can be easily treated and removed. They can affect anyone, and the problem is not related to lack of personal hygiene and the cleanliness of home or school. Proper screening and intervention is the key to head lice control.

The Student Services Department, in collaboration with a service provider, offers the services for screening and treatment of head lice in all state schools. Screening is carried out throughout the year at the school premises. The service provider will check students on a need basis and will provide the treatment and consult parents on the proper use of the treatment to ensure its effectiveness. The student will return to school after the service provider certifies that s/he is clear from head lice.
